PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local MAJID AL FUTTAIM (MAF) is currently gearing-up to invest $2,500,000,000 in the first phase development of the Dubai Festival City (DFC) project. The master plan for the entire undertaking was recently updated to accommodate new ideas and expand the facility to incorporate new elements into the complex dubbed, a city within a city.

Construction plans under consideration call for building between 4 and 10 new hotels and resorts to serve more tourists. The two-stage development of the DFC will see the first phase ending by September 2006 while the more elaborate second phase taking shape between 2007 and 2012.

As things currently stand, construction work recently started-up on piling and earthworks. When completed, the mixed-use upscale development is intended to house a community of 75,000. A city built on water, DFC is expected to distinguish itself by its canals, waterfalls, pools and fountains. The Waterfront will be the centerpiece of the project, offering a beautiful setting for meeting, dining and shopping. It will also provide world-class entertainment and hospitality facilities as well as exclusive residential and office accommodation.
