Because practitioners often struggle to keep up with the array of newly issued standards, the AICPA Technical Issues Committee (TIC) offers standard setters a small-firm perspective on the guidance they introduce. As the incoming TIC chair, it's my opportunity to lead the TIC's ongoing effort to provide our small-firm constituency with timely updates regarding new standards applying to their practices and clients.

In this column, I'll focus on the importance of recent pronouncements, beginning with an overview of several new standards about which small practitioners will want to be aware.
