Thirty-nine students have been awarded scholarships by the National Society of Accountants (NSA) Scholarship Foundation for the 2005-2006 academic year. More than 750 students applied for the 2005 awards. Applicants were judged on scholastic achievement, demonstrated leadership ability and financial need.

The NSA Scholarship Foundation Board of Trustees awarded more than $35,000 in stipends that ranged in amounts from $500 to $2,000. In addition, an educational grant was awarded towards the National Accounting and Tax Symposia, a new NSA initiative expanded to three locations for 2005.

In announcing the 2005 awards, the Board of Trustees stated, "Today's students are struggling with the increasing cost of higher education. Through the generous support of NSA members and many others, we are able to extend a helping hand to these outstanding students pursuing a career in accounting. The additional awarding of educational grants directly benefits those already in the profession and reinforces a true commitment to lifelong learning."
