Medical advances and preventive care have cut down on the number of people becoming disabled, however with a longer life span comes the greater chance of developing chronic conditions which may necessitate long-term care. Baby boomers, who are increasingly caught between the dual responsibilities of taking care of their children as well as their ailing parents are taking out long-term insurance policies to spare their children from a similar fate.
