A new Institute for Interreligious and Intercultural Research and Dialogue was established in Geneva, Switzerland, in May, 1999. The initiative was taken by the Orthodox Center of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Chambesy (Geneva), which in the past has engaged in intra-Christian and interreligious dialogue. It has sponsored Jewish-Christian-Muslim dialogues in Chambesy, Athens, Constantinople, Amman, and Jerusalem. In the contemporary multicultural and global society, the problems of the human person are common among all religious people.
