USE Credit Union's financial performance last year wasn't stellar, but then again, not many other credit unions were.
In any case, the seemingly sudden departure of longtime CEO and President Linda Baughman from the San Diego-based University and State Employees Credit Union wasn't related to financial results, and wasn't so abrupt to the board of directors, said Chairman Tony Cherin.
"We discussed (her leaving) for a period of time. It was not an earthshaking event," said Cherin, a finance professor at San Diego State University.
Baughman, who held the job for 12 years, couldn't be reached for comment, but an announcement last week issued by the credit union merely noted that "she decided to leave her post to pursue other interests."
