No laughing matter

It isn't often that tire tracks are used to crack a major case.

But some BFGoodrich all-terrain tires became the incriminating piece of evidence in an investigation involving fires set at nine Alabama churches in February. Five churches were destroyed; four were badly damaged. The arsons were high profile, with state and federal agents conducting a massive probe.

Three suspects were apprehended only because of some nice police work, stupidity on the part of the alleged arsonists-all college students with a very strange sense of humor-and their inability to figure out that one tire isn't the same as another tire.
