Vote no on Eagle Park District

I am writing regarding the Eagle Park District in Harrisburg that we will be voting on in May.

Although the idea of having parks, trails and tennis courts sounds wonderful, I firmly believe that Harrisburg is not ready for all of that. The population of Harrisburg is only 3,300. We are not Eugene by any means. What we have now seems sufficient for the time being.

Like most people in Harrisburg, my family - which includes four children still at home - is on a budget. The cost of city services has risen in recent years, as well as the cost of electricity and natural gas. These are necessary things which we all must pay for no matter what the cost. What about people on fixed incomes who are already struggling to pay their bills? Won't this extra unnecessary tax put even more of a hardship on them?

We also have to think ahead. What if, in the future, Harrisburg is in need of more police services or the fire department needs more equipment? What about the schools? These things are most important in my mind. I'm sure, eventually we will be asked to vote on and pay for those needs on top of what we are already paying, including the Eagle Park District, if it passes.
