BIODIESEL FIRM MISSION BIOFUELS MAKES STRONG DEBUT ON ASX

SYDNEY - Biodiesel producer Mission Biofuels Ltd (ASX:MBT) has ended its first day on the stock exchange at an impressive 39 per cent premium on its issue price, ahead of starting construction on a major biodiesel plant in Malaysia.

Investors who missed out on the highly sought-after float chased the stock higher, keen to cash in on the anticipated rise in demand for clean fuels.

SNAGSAD BHABAN - Prime Minister Khaleda Zia informed Parliament Wednesday that the government has undertaken long-term measures to solve the country's power problem.

The government and power organizations have been working to ensure that every Bangladeshi would have access to electricity by the year 2020, she said adding that the demand of electricity in the country is increasing by an average of 8 per cent annually.

SANTOS COMMITS FURTHER US$76 MLN TO BONAPARTE EXPLORATION

ADELAIDE - Oil and gas producer Santos Ltd (ASX:STO) has committed a further $A100 million ($US76.82 million) for an accelerated exploration program in the Bonaparte Basin, north of Australia, as it seeks to take advantage of a growing global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Success with the project could lead to an expansion in production of LNG and have a material and positive impact on the medium-term growth of the company, Santos said.
