Vernon Hills volleyball got the wins it needed most Saturday at the Glenbrook North varsity invite. The Cougars went 3-2, finishing third in the tournament, and won both its matches against potential sectional competitors.

"When we pass in system, we have enough hitting options that we're hard to beat," said Vernon Hills coach Chris Curry, whose team improved to 15-8 overall. "We have four really good hitters, and offensively we can play with anyone. The key is playing good defense and not making simple mistakes."
