With three wins between Friday and Saturday, Batavia's girls soccer team took the championship at the Moline Tournament.

The Bulldogs opened on Friday with a 4-0 shutout of Niles West. In the semifinal on Saturday, they beat Prospect 1-0 on a goal by Kara Lydon.

The championship game against Lemont came down to the last few minutes of overtime. From about six yards out, Kyleigh Gear drilled a shot over the goalie and into the net to clinch the title.

Batavia is 10-3 on the year.

Baseball

Geneva 9-4, Fenton 4-10: The Vikings took the opener in Fenton, but dropped the second.

In Game 1, the Vikings (11-12) scored five runs in the top of the seventh to extend their lead from 4-2 to 9-2....
