Vietnam estimates that its raw bauxite ore reserves amount to 8 billion tons, the world's third largest after Guinea and Australia, and mostly unmined. As a result, China-based ALUMINUM CORP OF CHINA LTD. (CHALCO), the world's second-largest alumina producer, recently singed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the local VIETNAM CHARCOAL GROUP, a likely subsidiary of VIETNAM COAL & MINERALS INDUSTRIES GROUP () in relation to the joint development of a Dak Nong project in Vietnam.
