Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) is a diagnostic procedure that has been available for use since the 1980s, with the sensory testing component (FEEST) added in the 1990s. Prior to beginning Chapter 1, the reader is provided with a comprehensive list of abbreviations used throughout the text. I found this especially helpful, as they are commonly encountered within the field of dysphagia management and often misunderstood or used inappropriately. Also helpful are the numerous, high-quality photographs depicting images of pharyngeal and laryngeal tissues (both normal and abnormal) obtained using the FEEST equipment.
