Jason Hindle, Ralph Allen's joint managing director, recalled: "We went to a Ryobi open house to look at the 524. Terry Anderson, one of the engineers, put a 10p piece on the delivery while it was running at 10,000. We looked all over the thing, but that was a brilliant gimmick. We were sold."
The company still has a 2-colour 522 and has graduated through early 4- colour models to the GX launched two years ago. Hindle said the company would be taking a 5-colour version with a coating unit as soon as the business could be moved into larger premises.
There are thousands of 520 series Ryobi's churning out print in the UK....
