McKENZIE BRIDGE - Residents remained in a state of disbelief Thursday, a day after flames ripped through the historic Log Cabin Inn.

"Everybody's devastated - the whole community," said Steve Harbick, owner of the McKenzie Bridge General Store. "It just happened so fast. It's like one of those things where you don't quite know how special something is until it's gone."

A revolving set of onlookers paid their respects at the charred site on Thursday. Some recalled gatherings there, while others expressed their wish to see the two-story landmark along the McKenzie River rebuilt.
