Did the house make the Gorskis history buffs - or did history help them fall in love with the house?

Both of the above.

Cindy and Tony Gorski bought the dilapidated Victorian house in West Dundee in 1998. As someone experienced in the trades, Tony always believed it could be a great family home.

Cindy saw 17 broken windows, a really appalling bathroom and a barn close to tumbling down. She had her doubts.

But when Tony started tearing the walls apart and found hundreds of bottles and other century-old artifacts, Cindy became a convert.

Within seven months the first floor was habitable, and Tony's years of work have made this a three-bedroom, two-bath home that even his wife can love.

And she's not the only one. Home & Garden Television is also impressed. "If Walls Could Talk" will tape at the Gorskis' today for airing on HGTV, probably in late summer.
