Few doctors comply with the end-of-life treatment preferences of their patients, a study shows.

Both attending and resident physicians of internal medicine at three affiliated California hospitals were surveyed to determine how they would handle hypothetical cases of seriously ill patients. All of the "patients" had provided advance directives about their medical care in the event that they weren't capable at such a time to make decisions.
