Quality Deer Management Association forms new chapter.

The Magnolia State now has its first official branch of the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA).

Back in December, a number of metro-area deer hunters got together with the QDMA's director of branch development, Gene Newman, to get things started in Central Mississippi. Also, QDMA just hired Scot Mancil of Jackson as a regional director to assist local state branches. Meanwhile, in just a month, the local group has really moved forward in the process of getting the state organization formalized and off to a fast start.

The first order of business was to get officers for the organization so the leadership could begin its work. The slot of president was filled by Jay Herrington of Brandon, with Bradley Dees serving as vice president and Natalie Dees as the secretary/treasurer. They have been extremely aggressive in putting together a program of work with several events and fundraisers already planned for this year.
