As a senior in high school, Jan Reid-Bunch dreamed about a career as an actress.

At the Mississippi University for Women (MUW), she studied music, earning a degree in vocal performance in 1988. At the University of Mississippi, she pursued a graduate degree, also in vocal performance.

Only recently did Reid-Bunch pursue an advanced degree in education. This year, she is on track to complete a doctorate of philosophy degree in community college leadership from Mississippi State University.
