When Stacy Miller learned that a co-worker's husband, a self-employed contractor and the family breadwinner, was hurt on the job, the experience represented a significant turning point in her own life.

"It made a lasting impression on me because I'm also married to a self-employed, hard working man who was the breadwinner of our family," she explained. "If he were to incur a serious injury, everything we'd ever worked for would've been lost. My husband (Roger) and I both come from economically poor backgrounds, and we wanted to break that cycle for our daughter so she could have opportunities for a comfortable future."
