The Washington state Legislature recently expanded the Law Against Discrimination to prohibit discrimination based on a person's sexual orientation. The bill, ESHB 2661, was signed by Gov. Gregoire on Jan. 31, and it will become effective in June, 90 days after the Legislature adjourns.

Washington is the 17th state to pass a law banning discrimination based on sexual orientation.
