Saturday was the last day of the Pac-10 Conference women's basketball regular season.
It was not the Ducks' day. Again.
UCLA took the 66-65 win home to Los Angeles. Oregon took the loss, its fifth straight and seventh in the last eight games, hard.
"We care, we sweat and, of course, we cry," said Chelsea Wagner, one of four Duck seniors who may have played their final game at McArthur Court before an announced crowd of 3,682.
"I think we're pretty stinking tough but when it doesn't work out on the court, it hurts."
Oregon had its overall record leveled at 14-14, one loss away from its third losing season in the last four years.
The Ducks finished eighth in the Pac-10 at 5-13, the fewest conference wins since a 3-15 year in 1992-93.
Oregon had its chances, several of them in the final minute or so of the game.
With 90 seconds left, UCLA had a six-point lead at 63-57 but Carolyn Ganes - who scored all of her 14 points in the second half - buried a three-pointer to make it 63-60.
With a minute to go, Tamika Nurse cut the Bruin lead to 63-62 with a pair of free throws.
Then the luck and lucky bounce began eluding the Ducks.
