On the last day evidence was presented to the jury in the marathon, five-month trial of former Gov. George Ryan, the presiding federal judge announced she has imposed a gag order after information leaked out about a juror's removal from the case.

The juror had been removed Thursday night in secret proceedings outside the media's presence. The proceedings and even the outcome - that a juror was removed - were ordered sealed by the judge, Rebecca Pallmeyer.
