Curran's curious answer cost him

I had occasion to attend a forum for candidates for Lake County sheriff sponsored by the City Club of Waukegan. The candidates, Mark Curran and Lawrence Oliver, were allowed to address the audience and were then asked questions by members of the City Club.

I thought the questions were very good and provided each candidate with an opportunity to reveal their plans and platforms. However, at one point I was shocked to hear one of Mr. Curran's replies to a question.
