Keep community's quality with a 'yes'

Prior to the birth of our 4-year-old daughter, we moved into the neighborhood we had been searching for. We felt a sense of community and stability. As a parent of now two toddlers, I have a lot at stake in the neighborhood we love and cherish.

I know class size creeps up and up every year and this is a huge concern of mine. At all levels, creative arts and extracurricular activities have been cut as teachers have been dismissed to meet budget demands.

Now the high school curriculum will be severely watered down to a non-competitive level. I will vote for the referendum because I know the amount I will pay to support the school district will be much less than the price of a private school tuition.

How do I put a price tag on a sense of community, stability and quality of life? I am a firm believer in the adage, "Your community is as good as your schools."

We found the community we were looking for; now we want to preserve its quality.
