Patsy Bock, director of sales and marketing for the Omni San Diego Hotel, doesn't usually book reservations. There's a separate department for that.

But the hotel, which is connected by a skywalk to the Padres' new home at Petco Park, was wrapping up a "pre-opening" media relations campaign, and Bock wanted to see what kind of pull it was having. So she took a couple calls recently from San Francisco residents wanting rooms April 8 when the Padres play their first game at Petco against the San Francisco Giants.
