Article Excerpt BEIJING, Feb 13 Asia Pulse - Though China achieved a surplus in the quantity of automobile trade for the first time in 2005, there is still a long way to go for the country to achieve an automobile trade surplus in terms of value.
Statistics from China Customs show that China exported 172,639 automobiles in 2005, with an export value of US$158.158 million, up 120.5% and 158.4% respectively year on year, and imported 161,608 units, with an import value of US$517.078 million, down 8% and 4.5% respectively.
Accordingly, there was a surplus of 11,031 units while there was still a huge deficit in terms of value.
Many Chinese automobile manufacturers are expecting a promising future in overseas sales, and accordingly preparing to explore overseas markets in larger scale in the near future.
However, despite of the surging export in quantity, China's automobile trade still faces many difficulties both from the Chinese car manufacturers themselves and from their foreign rivals.
