Elissa Scales's are glad she goes to the mall and spends money. It sounds too good to be true, but that's how it is for the 15-year-old of Pearland, Texas. One catch: Elissa isn't going there to buy CDs or hang out at the food court. She's going to the mall to work out.

Dancing With Myself

Elissa is one of the thousands of teens devoted to Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), a video game that awards points for dancing in sync with its music. Many teens have found video games like DDR to be a fun and convenient way to work out. Since she started DDR three years ago, Elissa said, she has more energy. "In fact, now just [thinking] about playing DDR makes me energetic," Elissa says. "Even when nay feet can no longer move fast enough to make a good score on the game, I feel great.
