Jackson wins prestigious horse show in bid against Vegas.

JACKSON -- The Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) scored an equestrian coup when the 30,000-member National Appaloosa Horse Club decided to hold its prestigious annual 13-day show in the Capital City, beginning in 2008.

The major show, expected to attract some 2,000 horses and their 4,000 handlers, is expected to boost the economy by $1 million per day and help attract bigger business from other notable equestrian shows. It represents one of the Mississippi Fairground's healthiest bookings.
