CORVALLIS - Halfway through the Pac-10 schedule, OSU coach Jay John noted Saturday, and "here we are again."

That would be 3-6 through the first round of conference games for the Beavers, the same as last season. A similar showing in the second half would torpedo Oregon State's chances of making the postseason for a second straight season.

The Beavers went 5-4 in the second round last year, and they'll likely have to do at least as well this time to again earn a berth in the National Invitation Tournament, their only reasonable postseason goal. John, for one, believes the potential exists for that to happen.
