Robert Johnston

COTTAGE GROVE - The funeral will be held Feb. 1 for Robert "Johnny" Johnston of Cottage Grove, who died Jan. 29 of age-related causes. He was 76.

Johnston was born April 30, 1929, in Creswell, to Richard and Caroline Johnston. He married Lois Meidl in April 1952 in Eugene.

He served in the Army for nine months in Korea as a sergeant in the infantry and received several medals, including the Combat Infantry Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was stationed on Hill 347 on the day the Korean War ended.

With his wife, he operated Killion's Market in Cottage Grove from 1973 to 1976. He later worked for Bohemia Lumber Co. He retired in 1990 after 43 years of employment.

He belonged to South Lane Cruisers and enjoyed showing his red 1956 Ford Thunderbird in car shows. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Barbara Greenstreet

A celebration of life will be held Feb. 5 for Barbara Greenstreet of Eugene, who died Jan. 29 of cancer. She was 73.

She was born Dec. 26, 1932, in Longview, Wash., to James and Helen Miller Bault. She married Walter Greenstreet on Jan. 30, 1968, in Hawaii.

She graduated from high school in Springfield. She worked as a travel agent and enjoyed traveling and raising orchids. Her family will remember her as a "loving wife, mother and grandmother" with a "great sense of humor." She was a member of the Orchid Society.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Julie Gasperino of Albany, Jill Gielish of Millersburg, Tracy Jendraszen of Salem and Sandra Greenstreet of Eugene; a son, Michael of Lake Oswego; a brother, Don Bault of Wintergarden, Fla.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A son, Jeff Hall, died July 4, 1979.
