It's a long way to July 1, when the NHL's free-agent signing period begins, but that doesn't mean we can't look ahead, because the Blackhawks are.

Despite missing on most of the nine free agents they signed over the last two summers, the Hawks plan to venture into the market again this summer in hopes of meeting one specific need: offense.
