As "Desperate Housewives" star James Denton slowly announced the top 10 finalists in the Miss America contest Saturday night, he noted that one yet-to-be-announced lady came from a state that had produced five Miss Americas.

A few steps away onstage, Miss Illinois, Lauren Allen of Batavia, clutched the hand of the contestant next to her. Illinois fit Denton's description.
