The setup was there.

Larkin was coming off a tough loss to Lake Park and Elgin had renewed confidence after beating Streamwood on Friday night.

But the Maroons couldn't use that momentum to their advantage Saturday evening, falling to Larkin 61-44 in Upstate Eight Conference girls basketball at Chesbrough Field House.

It was Larkin's sixth straight win in the cross-town series and the only game the two teams are scheduled to play this season.
