David A. Boyer, Vice President of Manufacturing for Nissan North America, Inc., in Canton.
Every morning before daybreak, Dave Boyer arrives at the Nissan North America plant in Canton. Well before schoolchildren are at their desks, he will have begun the intensive inspection process of reviewing 10 cars built the day before. After working on the floor and conducting meetings the rest of the day, he'll hopefully arrive home in time to enjoy a quiet dinner with his wife, Sandy.
"During the day, it's pretty much nonstop," said Boyer. "But I always make time for my wife, who's always been there for me. To be perfectly honest, I couldn't have made it without her."
The oldest of four children born to Arthur, an electrician who served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and Mary, his homemaker wife, Boyer grew up in New Kensington, a rural town in southwest Pennsylvania about 20 miles up the Allegheny River from Pittsburgh.
