The U.S. Judicial Conference has approved controversial changes to the federal Rules of Civil Procedure related to electronic discovery--but with revised notes that may quell critics' concerns that the new rules would give undue advantage to defendants. If the Supreme Court ratifies the rules and Congress does not change them, they will go into effect December 1, 2006.
