Freda Laird

PLEASANT HILL - The funeral will be held today, Dec. 30, for Freda M. Laird of Pleasant Hill, who died Dec. 26 of age-related causes. She was 80.

She was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Pleasant Hill, to Warren and Lucy O'Connor Higgins. She married Raymond Laird on May 5, 1942, in Pleasant Hill.

Laird enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her son, Don, of Pleasant Hill; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son, Bob Laird, died previously.

Today's service will be held at 2 p.m. at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Vera Donaldson

SPRINGFIELD - Vera Ellen Donaldson of Springfield died Dec. 28 of cancer. She was 73.

She was born Aug. 1, 1932, in Murfreesboro, Ill., to William and Amanda Williams Bennett. She married James Webster in 1948 in Eugene. They divorced in 1960. She married Lou Donaldson in 1963 in Eugene. He died in 1989.

She was owner and operator of Lou's Cafe in Waldport. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, gambling trips to Reno and in Oregon.

Survivors include her daughter, Lea Clayton of Vancouver, Wash.; her life partner of four years, Glenn Hiestand; two sisters, Imogene Olmstead of Illinois and Myrtle Heitzman of Eugene; four grandchildren; and one grandchild. A son, James Webster, died pre- viously.

No service is planned. Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Edith Westphal

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be held Jan. 3 for Edith Lucile Westphal of Springfield, who died Dec. 28 of age-related causes. She was 94.

She was born March 11, 1911, in St. Helens. She enjoyed gardening, needlework and genealogy.

Survivors include three daughters, Irma Best, Shirley Beade and Elsie Sharp, all of Springfield; two sons, Everett Weldon of Boise and John Weldon of Creswell; two sisters, Marjorie Lomax of...
