CORRECTION (ran 1/7/2006): A map accompanying an article on Page A1 on Dec. 30 about property in Glenwood that the city is considering for a hospital site listed an incorrect location for the Ramsey-Waite equipment dealership. The dealership should have been listed on the map as being on property No. 2, which is owned by Springfield businessman George Karotko. It should not have been listed as being on property No. 5, which is owned by Ramsey Properties.

A dozen Glenwood property owners who hold about 29 acres between Franklin Boulevard and the Willamette River are willing to sell their holdings to make room for a hospital - but only if the price is right.

The asking rate in the gritty industrial enclave, at least in the initial round of negotiations, averages a lofty $1.1 million an acre.

Seeking to line up enough land to lure a new McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center to Glenwood, Springfield officials in November asked property owners in a 47-acre area to name their price. The 12 who returned tentative option agreements to the city did just that. The Register-Guard obtained the options through a request under Oregon public records law.
