Article Excerpt Early in the last morning of a Carnival Glory seven-day Caribbean voyage last October, we happened to be walking near the main show lounge and the exit to the gangway, when we spotted a very long line of passengers loaded up with large suitcases, boxes of liquor, straw-market items, and other souvenirs. A man was pulling two big suitcases on wheels to which bundles had been attached, and he had a third bag hanging around his neck. One woman was even lugging a pillow and a bird cage!
They were lined up for Carnival Cruise Lines' self-assisted debarkation--the first people to get off the ship, provided they carry their own luggage, every bit of it, themselves. It is very nice that Carnival offers this program, as some independent travelers will book morning flights to return...
