At 39, Patrick Quinn knew this was his last chance.

After three decades of trying different sports in the hopes of competing in the Olympics, Quinn's best shot came last week as a member of a doubles luge team.

But the Lombard man and his partner fell about one-eighth of a second short of earning a spot on the U.S. roster.

And even though Quinn will be attending the Winter Games in Turin, Italy, in February - he's a sports agent representing Olympic athletes - he's still trying to come to grips with the fact his true dream will never be realized.

"I can't lie," Quinn said. "I'm not going to sit here and say, 'That's all fine and great.' It's not. It wasn't good enough. I am not satisfied. I don't walk...
