To be sure, my view had to be qualified considerably when a number of Palestinian suicide terrorists turned out to be highly educated women who had no Qur'anic stud-farm for which to hope. Moreover, I have always been aware of the fact that America's unqualified support for Israel's often brutal occupation of Palestinian land, its racist settlement and colonization of Arab territory, and its on-going attempted genocide against the native non-Jewish population have provided ample fuel to stoke the fires of suicidal militants.
What I did not understand is that the 'suicide terrorists' against whom we seek to defend ourselves are no more suicidal than were the American heroes who raised the flag on Iwo Jima. I did not realize that in their own minds--and in the eyes of their supporters--they...
