To many, the word "skateboarder" conjures up images of slacker teens sitting on curbs, disturbing the peace and scraping up every rail in sight. However, the founder of In4mation, a local street wear specialty boutique, stray from the stereotype. In fact, In4mation strays from convention in several aspects--in its practices, partners and merchandising. Four friends, Ryan Arakaki, Todd Shimabuku, Rhandy Tambio and Jun Jo founded the store in 2002 and with a fifth partner, Peter Chan, opened a second location in Waikiki this past September. None of these five businessmen have ever received an MBA, or formally studied business. Their company was not created generations before them, but it is doing pretty darn good--with projected annual gross sales of $857,000 by the close of 2005.
