AUSTRALIA'S BIOTA TEAMS UP WITH US FIRM FOR DRUG RESEARCH

SYDNEY - Shares in biotechnology firm Biota Holdings Ltd (ASX:BTA) rose more that four per cent today following news of a collaboration with MedImmune Inc to develop a compound to prevent and treat respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection.

By 1437 AEDT Biota shares were up 6.5 cents or 4.6 per cent to $1.475 and earlier hit an intraday high of $1.57.

BANGLADESH'S BEXIMCO PHARMA POSTS 23 PCT SALES GROWTH

DHAKA - Bangladesh's leading drug maker Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited (BPL) has posted a 23 per cent sales growth in 2005, highest in 10 years, as compared to the last year.

BPL announced the figure at its Annual Sales Conference-2005 at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre on Wednesday.
