Web cam helps spot

burglary suspects

A Eugene business owner used technology to thwart a pair of would-be burglars who stole tools and other items from his company early Tuesday.

Fred Wittkop, owner of Builder's Electric, spied two men removing the tools, wire and other equipment from his property via a Web cam he had set up at home. He contacted Eugene police at 4:30 a.m. and provided a description of the men's clothing and bicycles and their direction of travel.
