Palatine took advantage of a slow start by host Elk Grove and never looked back.

In fact, the Grenadiers were staring at a 14-0 deficit with less than two minutes to go in the first quarter before getting on the board.

The Pirates, however, had less trouble putting their offense in motion and rolled to a 58-34 Mid-Suburban League girls basketball crossover.

Palatine's early run was sparked by a couple baskets from Katlin Millin and a free throw from Nicole Pauly (game-high 18 points).

Also getting into the act with 2 baskets was Karlee Quaritsch while Katie Spencer (13 points) scored 5, including a 3-pointer.

"I thought we got off to a good start tonight," said Palatine coach Ron Theberge, whose team remains perfect at 6-0. "We didn't make all our possessions count, but there were a lot of things to be positive about."

Palatine kept up its pressure and by the end of the first half, Spencer had produced 11 points and Pauly 10 with the Pirates completely in control with a 33-8 advantage.
