There's one cookbook published every year that I can't wait to read, "The Best American Recipes."
Sure I create recipes, but I'm no Beethoven when it comes to creativity. No. I require inspiration, and that inspiration comes from a wide array of sources. Editors Fran McCullough and Molly Stevens don't just inspire, they've become one of my recipe muses.
Every year for the last seven years, McCullough and Stevens have spent hundreds, perhaps thousands, of hours paging through cookbooks (there are 700 to 900 cookbooks published yearly in this country alone), magazines, newspapers and the Internet in search of (what else?), the best recipes.
McCullough and Stevens don't read a recipe and then say, "By golly, this seems like...
