Connecticut has turned away thousands of jobs and millions in taxes because state and local government's lack a simple, cohesive approach to land-use decisions, according to a new lobbying group prepared to address the issue.

Connecticut Partnership for Balanced Growth has 130 members consisting of municipal leaders, businesses, community groups and individuals who support a more balanced approach to growth.

"The real estate development community I think by and large would tell you that the land-use approval process has become the single biggest threat to the Connecticut economy," R. Michael Goman, president and chief executive officer Konover Development Corp., told an audience at a recent Connecticut Business and Industry Association event.
