Henner Klein hopes to undo the damage done to A. T. Kearney Inc. during the management consultancy's disastrous 10-year stint as a unit of Electronic Data Systems Corp.

To do so, he'll have to win the hearts and minds not only of potential clients, but of people like Evan Trent, as well.

"There's a rumor that the best and the brightest have left Kearney. That's the perception,'' says Mr. Trent, 26, a student at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business who graduates in June and hopes to land a job at a top management consulting firm.
