Article Excerpt While the 2010 U.S. Open Golf Championship in Pebble Beach is several years away, Scott Mires' design team is already teeing up ideas for a logo.
A lot of considerations went into the design.
Said Mires, "It needs to capture the soul of golf, be authentic, create desire, appeal to a wide audience, look and feel like Pebble Beach and be a retail success."
Mires, who is the founder, president and creative director of the San Diego-based brand design firm with his name, wouldn't put a value on the contract with his client, Pebble Beach Co., other than saying it's a "sizable amount that Would pay for many sets of golf clubs."
That's more lucrative than one of Mires' old doomed dot-com clients who ran out of money and actually paid Mires...
