The Westchester Arts Council contracts with more than 100 qualified artists, representing every artistic discipline, who conduct residencies in school districts throughout the county. Below is a sampling of Roster artists and recent projects.

Leita Blackman African Dance Instructor

Ms. Blackman is a professional African Dance Teaching Artist who has brought her unique style to a variety of school settings.

Most recently she conducted a six-week residency at the Edward Williams Elementary School in Mt. Vernon and a fifteen-week residency at the Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Yonkers. In her residencies she uses dance as a medium to encourage students to develop character traits such as respect and open-mindedness.
